About SMC  Southern Minnesota Construction was established in the year 1914 in Mankato, Minnesota as Lundin Brothers Construction. SMC became a critical part of community building for southern Minnesota. This was done through: road building, site building, excavation and in 1957, asphalt to their list of services. In 1988 they were incorporated as Southern Minnesota Construction
Today, SMC is part of Oldcastle Materials Inc. and is one of the most successful construction companies in the midwest. SMC is an industry leader in the construction areas of asphalt surfacing, excavation, site preparation, and rock products. SMC has been awarded with multiple honors in the areas of safety, and road building activities.
